Learning Outcomes

The student can identify factors which affect mental health and resources related to mental health on individual, family and community level. The student has knowledge of psychical needs and threats related to different ages and situations in life.
The student has knowledge of the most common mental disorders and traumatic crisis situations and the effect and meaning of them for the individual and her/his nearest. The student has knowledge of methods used in mental health care. The student can guide clients to appropriate mental health care services.

Contents

Central concepts, premises for mental health care, legislation and service system. The most common manifestations of mental disorders and methods of helping. Traumatic crisis situations. Methods of managing crisis situations.
