Learning Outcomes

The student is able to design steel and sheet metal structures and understands the effect of the slenderness of cross-section on the durability in steel structures. The student understands the significance of various stages in the design process: a single part of structure, joints, the stability of the building on the functionality of the house during its lifetime.

Student's Workload

Total work load of the course: 135 h
- of which scheduled studies: 60 h
- of which autonomous studies: 75 h
The assessment of student’s own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.

Prerequisites / Recommended Optional Courses

Isostatic Structures, Strenght of Materials, Hyperstatic Structures, Theory of Plasticity

Contents

Joints, and joint applications, calculations of stell grids, tubulat girger grids, structural systems, strutting in the steel building. Design and dimensioning of sheet metal structures, thin -web beams, fire resistance of steel structures, composite structures.
