Learning Outcomes

The student can design simple reinforced concrete structures and understands different steps in structural design process.

Student's Workload

The total amount of student's work is 162 h, which contains 84 h of contact studies and 78 h of autonomous studies.
The assessment of student’s own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.

Contents

The qualification for designing the load bearing structures. The skeletons of buildings, how they work and their tasks and choosing the skeleton system. Designing the reinforced structures in bending, for shear forces and torsion. Stressed structures. Designing reinforced concrete structures in serviceability limit state. Foundations. Designing the reinforcement.

Lectures, project work: design of a concrete structure with the CAD drawings

Assessment Criteria

Grade 1: The student knows those subjects of the course, which are necessary for the forthcoming studies and working life.
Grade 3: The student is well-abled to utilize the course contents.
Grade 5: The student is able to apply creatively the contents of the course.

Assessment Methods

Project work and written exams.
