Learning Outcomes

After completing the course, the student will understand the position of public law as part of the national legal system. The student will know and understand the significance and role of the national constitution, EU law, and international treaties in the national legal system. The student will also become familiar with the individual's position in the public law context. The student will have a thorough knowledge of fundamental rights, the legislation concerning them, and international agreements, and will understand the significance of fundamental rights as part of society. The student will understand and master the regulation concerning the operation and organization of public authority and will be able to apply their knowledge to practical activities.

Student's Workload

In higher education, 1 credit corresponds to 27 hours of student work. For this course, that means 135 hours, which are divided into contact hours, exercises, and independent study.

Contents

Public law as a field of law.
Internalizing the binding nature, significance, and structure of public law.
Familiarization with the public sector and the position of public law in the legal system.
Understanding the operation and organization of public authority from a legal regulation perspective.
Comprehending and internalizing the binding nature of the constitution, fundamental rights, and international treaties.
The individual's position in the public law context.
The roles and functions of higher state organs.

Assessment Criteria

Grade 5: The student has an excellent command of the course learning objectives and can apply what they have learned in practice exceptionally well. They understand the significance of the course topics in society, both in the private and public sectors.

Grade 3: The student has a good command of the course learning objectives and can apply what they have learned in practice well. They understand the significance of the course topics in society, both in the private and public sectors.

Grade 1: The student has a satisfactory command of the course learning objectives and can apply what they have learned in practice satisfactorily. They understand the significance of the course topics in society, both in the private and public sectors.

The course exercises are reviewed during the final lessons of the course. When the correct answers are discussed, the student has the opportunity to compare their own answers with those discussed in class and receive feedback on their own performance.
