Learning Outcomes

After passing the course, the student is able to select and calculate the sizing of electrical equipment for typical machine automation applications and understand the effects of electrical energy. The student is able to read and interpret electrical circuit diagrams and perform wiring operations accordingly. In addition, the student will be able to use a multimeter to measure and troubleshoot electrical systems and will be proficient in safe electrical work that is permitted to be performed by a layperson without special permission.
The student will be familiar with the main components, principles of operation and circuit diagrams of pneumatics and hydraulics and will be able to design and implement basic pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
The student will know the basics of logic programming and be able to program simple applications using graphical programming languages.

- Basics of electrical engineering, basic components, connections and sizing
- Reading electrical diagrams
- Pneumatic systems, components, connections and sizing
- Hydraulic systems and components
- Programmable logic, logic programming basics, graphical programming languages.
