Learning Outcomes

The student will acquire the basic methodology for seeking and analyzing specialized information for writing essays and reports and conducting surveys and research projects typical of bachelor degree level. The student is able to evaluate the validity and reliability of information sources and research results.

The assessment of student’s own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.


Information search and criteria for scientific knowledge. Definition of a research problem. Strategies in research: experiments, survey and case studies. Qualitative and quantitative research methods. Planning of personal project for the final thesis.

Assessment Criteria

1 the student is capable of scientific thinking and writing a research proposal, can perform basic tasks on information seeking, understands the importance of critical evaluation of information sources

3 the student is able to limit and logically structure a given research problem, can create a research proposal, is able to critically assess research results and information sources

5 the student can individually structure and limit a given research problem, can create a logical research proposal, is capable of critically evaluating different types of information sources, is able to scientifically evaluate the reliability and validity of information sources and research results

Assessment Methods

Acceptable assignments in information seeking and in analysis of research reports (50%). Active participation in contact studies, a small-scale report on a given assignment or the student’s final thesis (50%). Numeric scale (0-5).
