Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, the student knows the architecture and operations of routers and switches in a small network. The student can design and build small routed networks and connect a local area network into a larger network, configure needed IP and routing parameters and troubleshoot the network. Student knows the TCP/IP communication and TCP/IP services. The student gains an understanding of implementing address translation, access controls lists and DHCP-services.
Student's Workload
135 h, which contains 70 h of scheduled contact studies.
Prerequisites / Recommended Optional Courses
Local Area Networks, Data Network Services, Basics of Telecommunications.
Contents
Enhanced switching technologies such as Virtual LANs, Spanning Tree Protocols and Industrial Ethernet. Internet Protocol versions 4 and 6. Inter-VLAN routing. Static and Dynamic Routing, especially OSPF. TCP and UDP protocols. Access Control List, DHCP and NAT.
