Learning Outcomes

The student learns the functionality and use of FPGA integrated circuits. Through practical programming on a digital logic kit, she/he learns how to use VHDL (Hardware Description Language) to describe digital electronic systems.

Digital Electronics I, Digital Electronics II, Microprosessors, Controllers and Interfacing.

Contents

Structure and properties of FPGA circuits.
Switches, Lights and Multiplexors; Numbers and Displays; Latches, Flip-flops and Registers; Counters; Finite State Machines.

Material provided by the Lecturer.

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Lectures and laboratory work. The course requires continuous attendance.

Assessment Criteria

Grade 1-2: The student knows the basic concepts of programmable logics and their programming.
Grade 3-5: The student is able to independently implement logic systems using FPGA IC.

Assessment Methods

An examination and laboratory reports.
