Learning Outcomes

The student will acquire sufficient language skills needed in professional ICT engineering contexts at school and at work.

Student's Workload

The total amount of student's work is 81 h, containing 42 h of scheduled contact studies.

Contents

Professional writing skills e.g. job application procedure, production and understanding of spoken and written content-based texts, intercultural speaking skills specifically for email, sms, business call in addition to negotiations, meetings and content-based interactive presentation practice.

Recommended or Required Reading and Other Learning Resources/Tools

Texts, video clip and articles as specified by the teacher at the beginning of the course. Part of the study unit material is produced by the learners under the supervison of the teacher.

Assessment Criteria

Grade 5: The student speaks, writes and understands well and with ease spoken and written text in ICT and a broad spectrum of fields. The student is sensitized to multicultural dimension and comfortable with various contextual genres of English.
Grade 3: The student speaks, writes and understands spoken and written text in ICT English fluently and without tools.
Grade 1: The student speaks, writes and understands written and spoken professional text in engineering by means dictionaries and other means of assistance.

Assessment Methods

The student must fulfil the 75 % minimum attendance requirements at contact learning to be assessed. Spoken and written tasks, assignments and exams along with continuous assessment, written examinations and oral test on scale 0 - 5.
