Learning Outcomes

The student learns to express herself precisely, consistently and grammatically correctly in Finnish. The student gets familiar with the basic requirements when writing the scholarly thesis and is able to follow the agreed practices, such as marking literature references and bibliography. The student is capable of giving and accepting constructive feedback.

Student's Workload

54 h, which includes 28 h of scheduled contact studies at VAMK and 16 h at UVA.

Contents

The student examines the language and style in scholarly thesis in small groups from the linguistic perspective. The student makes grammar exercises and gets oriented with the writing of the maturity test.

Assessment Criteria

Grade 5: The student knows the structure and progress of a research process in her field. She can write text within her own field following the given writing instructions, working independently and goal-directly and so that she produces almost flawless text.
Grade 3: The student is familiar with the structure and progress of a research process in her field. She can write text within her own field following the given writing instructions, working rather independently and so that she produces almost flawless text.
Grade 1: The student is familiar with the structure and progress of a research process in her field. She can write relatively fluent text within her own field following the given writing instructions.
