Learning Outcomes

The student will understand the principle of creating a product model and is able to make models which are easy to modify. He/she knows how to use Top-down design methods to produce part and assembly models. The student will appreciate the possibilities to use various simulation methods in product design.

Total work load of the course: 135 h, of which
- scheduled studies: 70 h
- autonomous studies: 65 h
The assessment of student’s own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.

IKTA2501 3D Modeling and Product Lifecycle Management

Contents

Specifying and producing product models. Using Layouts and linking them with the model. Modeling assemblies and linking parts to them. Creating features and part models in the concept of assembly model. Using skeleton models with assemblies. Making family parts and product family tables. Replacing components in the assembly structure. Strength and motion analysis. Producing drawings and maintaining them. Using a PLM-system in a design project.

Lectures, exercises, assignments, examination.

5: Student is able to apply course content on his/her own initiative and develop new solutions.
3: Student is able to apply course content independently.
1: Student is able to use course content to limited extent.

Assessment Methods

Numerical assessment, examination and assignments. Examination includes practical tasks on workstations.
