Learning Outcomes

The course aims at introducing the student to the Finnish society and culture with all their various forms and activities. The student will visit a swimming pool, a public library, a museum, etc. She will go to the sauna, she will become familiar with the Finnish political system and with the Finnish school system, and she will learn how to cope with Finnish people. After the course, the student knows about the most important laws from her point of view, and she understands the responsibilities and rights of Finnish citizens, refugees and students who have come to Finland from abroad.

Student's Workload

54 h, which contains 28 h of scheduled contact studies.
The assessment of student’s own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.

Contents

The Finnish political system and the structure of the Finnish school system, the relevant laws, different types of leisure activities, an overview to the Finnish culture.

The material delivered by the teacher and the different places visited during the course.
