Learning Outcomes
The objective of the study unit is to help the student to get an overall picture of the structures of electrical systems and thus to facilitate the student to integrate the details studied later on to be a part of the bigger entity.
Student's Workload
Total work load 81 h, of which scheduled studies 42 h.
The assessment of student’s own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.
Prerequisites / Recommended Optional Courses
Not required
Contents
Basic components of electrical systems, such as electricity production facilities, power distribution and distribution networks, and various forms of the utilisation of electricity. The most important basic electro-technical phenomena and operation principles, such as generator (electromagnetic induction), transformer and electric motor (electromagnetic induction), short circuit and earth fault. Electro-technical basic principles. Sinusoidal AC power and its production from mechanical energy. Instantaneous value of AC power, mean value and effective value. Resistance, inductance and capacitance in AC power. Solving of a single-phase AC circuit.
