Learning Outcomes
The student is familiar with the most common fuels in Finland, their use and inportance for the Finnish energy supply. The student knows their production and main properties and is able to analyse the environmental effects from alternative fuels. The students is familiar with the basic combustion processes.
Student's Workload
Total work load 81 h, of whoch scheduled studies 42 h and autonomous studies 39 h.

Contents
Basic thermochemistry, combustion reactions and related calculations. Main fuels used in Finland. Basics of petroleum refining and the products of Finnish refineries. Fuel gases. Production and use of selected biofuels.
