Learning Outcomes

The student understands chemical, physical and biological processes taking place in natural waters, and the human impact on them. The student can assess the state of a waterbody using chemical indices.
The student knows the most common methods used for restoration of waterbodies, and is able to assess their suitability and costs for different projects. The student is familiar with methods available for wastewater treatment in scarcely populated areas.

The assessment of student’s own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.

Contents

Chemical and physical processes affecting the state of natural waters. Water resources, deterioration of waterbodies, basics of limnology. Basic terms and legislation of water protection. Restoration of waterbodies. Water sampling. Methods for waterbody restoration and their costs. Methods for wastewater treatment in scarcely populated areas.
