Learning Outcomes

To provide the students understanding of the strategic role of production management which is responsible for producing the goods offered by a company

Student's Workload

The course will be carried out as an online course with individual week tasks, self tests and reflecting assignments to do. The total work load of the course is 81 h. A more detailed specification of different learning activities is presented at the beginning of the course.

Prerequisites / Recommended Optional Courses

International Supply Chain Management or equivalent knowledge obtained otherwise.

Contents

Contents: Product development and design. Planning and scheduling practices. Quality control. Production and inventory management such as Lean manufacturing and JIT. The course is divided into 5 parts within a time frame of 13 - 15 weeks.

The student can utilize and apply the theories, concepts and methods of production management. The student can produce written material on them and communicate about the issues to various target groups. Student shows his/her understanding of the development needs in the field by analyzing and assessing professional issues.

The student will do learning activities through out the course and earn points. The course is 3 cu which is a workload of 81 h. Accordingly there will be 81 points to earn. The course will be self-propelled with a fixed time table. The student will be able to follow the earned points during the course. The final assessment will be done based on earned points using the following scale:
