Learning Outcomes
The student will receive an idea of the significance of geotechics in environmental surveys, planning and building. The student is also able to make geotechical calculations.

Contents
Geotechnical properties of soil types. Usual geotechnical bearing capacity, stability, settlement and soil pressure calculations. Soil, bedrock and ground water investigations. Main phases in geotechnical planning. Foundation pits, earth filling and strengthening of ground. Ground frost and frost heave. Erosion protection.
