Learning Outcomes

Understanding the connection between geology and environmental issues related to soil. The student is able to recognise the most usual soil and rock types.

Contents

Geological processes and their products, characterisrics of Finland's soil and bedrock. Soil, bedrock and ground water formations and clasiification. Geocatastrophes; natural and human inflicted. Geological factors influencing landuse.

Lectures and recognition of the most usual soil and rock types in the laboratory.
