Learning Outcomes

Student lears to evaluate the environment as interactive entity from cross-scientific point of view. Student will familiarise her/himself with European operational environment for sustainable development, understands local and international environmental practices from professional point of view.

Basic studies during first academic year.

Contents

Professional excursion in order to get acquainted to environmental practices in the Baltic Sea drainage basin area. Excursion will be planned in cooperation with experts working on the target area. Content of studies will be taylor made in accordance with the places selected for the visits. Guidance for researchin and collecting the data both before and during the excursion.

Recommended or Required Reading and Other Learning Resources/Tools

Study material and sources of infrmation will be created in cooperation with the experts, teachers and students participating to the excursion.

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Excursion, preparatory research and lectures 60 h, research reports, reports on expert presentations during the excursion, reports on local environmental practices and methodologies applied in selected destinations in Baltic Sea area 34 h, course portfolio and public presentation of the course output 24 h.

Assessment Criteria

Grade 5: The student shows development tendency, masters the requirements and the contents of the study unit and can apply what s/he has learn in independent work excellently. The student has completed all assignments in a given time.
Grade 3: The student masters the majority of requirements and the contents of the study unit and is able to apply well what s/he has learnt in independent work. The student has completed all requires assignments.
Grade 1: The student shows that s/he knows some of the requirements and contents of the study unit and can apply what s/he has learn when assisted. The student has completed all required asssignments with grade pass.

Assessment Methods

Participation in professional excursion 50%. Course portfolio, research work and analysis, group work skills and public presentation of the course portfolio 50%. Assessment by grades.
