The student will understand the structure of environmentaö legialation and its significance in environmental engineer's work.

Contents

Environmental administration in Finland as well as the EU’s influence on Finnish environmental legislation. Environmental Protection Act and Environmental Permit. EIA procedure. Other environmental legislation in the area of ground, waste, water, health protection and nature conservation

Recommended or Required Reading and Other Learning Resources/Tools

Selected parts of Finnish environmental legislation and material prepated by the teacher, material supporting case studies.

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Lectures and team work on practical problem-solving case studies.

Assessment Criteria

Grade 1: The student knows the contents of the study unit that are relevant in working life.
Grade 3: The student is bale to utilise the information and skills learnt during the study unit.
Grade 5: The student is able to utilise and apply the information and skills learnt during the study unit.

Assessment Methods

The grade is based on the completion of case studies.
