Learning Outcomes
The student can apply ArcGIS geographic information system application in comprehensive and practical environmental planning projects, and in addition to that owns an ability to evaluate the qualities and applicability of the ArcGIS soft ware for planning the project work. The student has variedly acquainted both with ArcGIS software as working tool and methodology when using it in project work and planning.

Contents
Comprehensive environmental planning task, which learns the student to apply and manage the geographic information system application in practical working life projects.
Recommended or Required Reading and Other Learning Resources/Tools
Guide for ArcGIS soft ware application, required project work material, data, maps and information sources will be given by the teacher.
Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods
Tutored comprehensive environmental planning project work made as team work including an indivually defined specific research task 70 h, lectures and tutorials for the project work 24 h, visiting expert lectures and project work follow-up 4 h, learning to use the soft ware application by doing 118 h.
Assessment Criteria
Grade 5: The student shows development tendency, masters the requirements and the contents of the study unit and can apply what s/he has learn in independent work excellently. The student has completed all assignments in a given time.
Grade 3: The student masters the majority of requirements and the contents of the study unit and is able to apply well what s/he has learnt in independent work. The student has completed all requires assignments.
Grade 1: The student shows that s/he knows some of the requirements and contents of the study unit and can apply what s/he has learn when assisted. The student has completed all required assignments with grade pass.
Assessment Methods
Completed studies in applying and managing the ArcGIS soft ware in project work task 50%, individual portfolio to prove the students skills, qualities and abilities to work with the geographic information system data and application in environmental planning, active participation and team work skills, public presentation of the project work results, written exam 50%.
