Learning Outcomes
The student will understand the quantities and units of electrostatics and electric current. She will become familiar with the most common electrical components and their behaviour. The student will comprehend the basics of magnetic phenomena and electromagnetism, as well as acquire an understanding of the associated laws of nature. In addition to their theoretical studies, the students will experimentally study the given laws of nature in laboratory environment. The analysis and the estimation of accuracy are done by using partly pre-filled forms.

Contents
The quantities and components of electrostatics (electric field, electric charge, voltage, capacitance), Coulomb’s law, influence and triboelectric effect (static charges on human body), direct current, the quantities and components of direct current (resistance, electric current), magnetism, magnetic force, Hall voltage and related devices, induction and mutual induction (a way to pass emg disturbances), transformer, the quantities and components of alternating current (impedance, reactance), generation of alternating current, its components (coil).

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods
The relevant theories of physics, together with associated problems and applications, are studied on a course of lectures. In addition, the student will individually solve a number of given homework exercises. Students will also take part in laboratory measurements. The measurements are done in groups of 3 students.
Assessment Criteria
Grade 5: The student knows all the quantities and units discussed on the course, and she understands how they are reltated with each other. The student is able to independently apply the natural laws discussed on the course while solving complicated problems related with the contents of the course.
Grade 3: The student knows most of the quantities and units discussed on the course, and she understands a significant amount of the relationships between them. The student is able to apply the natural laws discussed on the course while solving medium-level problems related with the contents of the course.
Grade 1: The student knows the most important quantities and units discussed on the course, and she understand the most important relationships between them. The student is able to apply the natural laws discussed on the course while solving basic problems related with the contents of the course.
Assessment Methods
The assessment is based on an examination, homework exercises and laboratory work. The student must solve at least 25 % of the given homework exercises, and she must complete all the associated experiments in the laboratory of physics.
