Learning Outcomes

The student attains the basic knowledge concerning the electrification of public and industrial buildings, is familiar with the methods used in calculation of lighting and knows how to apply them in electrical design in a larger scale.

Student's Workload

Total work load of the course: 81 h
- of which scheduled studies: 42 h
- of which autonomous studies: 39 h
The assessment of student’s own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.

Prerequisites / Recommended Optional Courses

IST4006 Electrical installations, IST8003 Electrical Design Applications

Contents

Applying directives of authorities, standards and other regulations in installations and contracting in public and industrial buildings. Structures of electrical networks, design and calculation principles and installations methods. Design of lighting and modern calculation for various spaces. Use of application software in drawing up an electrical design for an industrial building.

Recommended or Required Reading and Other Learning Resources/Tools

SFS6000 standard, D1 handbook, “Sähköasennukset 1” handbook, St card files and the Moodle material created by the teacher.

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Independent engineering and drawing with teacher’s feedback, partly contact teaching. Most of the lessons take place in specially equipped computer classes.

Assessment Criteria

5: The student is able to utilise the methods learnt during the study unit independently and combine the knowledge with previously learnt in various contexts.
3: The student is able to utilise the methods learnt during the study unit independently.
1: The student is able, with guidance, to utilise themethods learnt during the study unit.

Assessment Methods

Exam and assessment of engineering exercises and independent working.
