Learning Outcomes

The student obtains the basic knowledge of converter applications on modern electric drives, for example, the line commutated converter and inverter of a frequency converter. The student understands the principles of the power electronic components as a part of the converter.

Contents

The function of the power electronic components in converters. The construction and principles of line commutated rectifiers. The function of the gate commutated converters as inverters and choppers. In the laboratory session of the course the student will studies the functions of the converters and conducts practical start up actions.
