Learning Outcomes
The student knows the principles used in speed controlled drives and knows how to apply the knowledge in the parametrisation of a controlled drive. In the control of a three-phase cage motor the student learns the characteristics of scalar, vector and direct torque control.
Prerequisites / Recommended Optional Courses
Motor Drive Control and Protection, Converter Engineering
Contents
Speed and current control of a DC motor, transfer function and tuning of the control. Scalar, vector and direct torque control of a cage motor. Control of a synchronous motor with cycloconverter, LCI drive and high power intermediate circuit frequency converter. Control of permanent magnet synchronous motor. EMC issues, bearing currents and overvoltages in controlled drives. In the laboratory sessions speed and torque controlled drives are parameterised and tested using various motor alternatives.
