Learning Outcomes

The student gets a general idea of the structure and technical properties apparatus, switchgear and substations and the of the criteria of their selection.

Contents

Requirements set to the equipment in the distribution network and how to implement them. Voltage testing of electrical equipment. Properties, structure equivalent, circuit and selection criteria of electrical equipment. Experimental setting of of the power transformer values. Structure and selection criteria of breakers, disconnectors, instrument transformers, fuses and overcurrent protectors. Structures, and technical properties of distribution transformer stations, switchgear ans substations.

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Properties and selection criteria of equipment related to electrical utilities are learn during lectures. Knowldge is deepened in laboratory sessions where properties of certain equipment are measures and studied in practice. In addition, the use of equipment and their function in power transmission and distribution process is studied in real environment by visiting a 110/20kV substation.

Assessment Criteria

Grade 5: The student is able to apply creatively the contents of the course.

Grade 3: The student is well-abled to utilize the course contents.

Grade 1: The student knows those subjects of the course, which are necessary for the forthcoming studies and working life.

Assessment Methods

Exam and the technical contents and language of laboratory report.
