Learning Outcomes
The student is introduced to induction phenomenon and the basics of AC theory and learns to solve basic problems on alternating currents.

Contents
Generation of AC power from mechanical energy. Principle of a transformer and generation of iron losses appearing in electric machines. Intstantaneous value, mean value and effective value. Describing sinusoidal AC power with a rotating indocator and with a effective value indicator.

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods
The AC theory and it appliance in practice is first looked into during lectures. After this, the students independently apply the learnt skills by solving practical calculations and assignments. The solutions to the calculations and assignments are gone through during lessons.
Assessment Criteria
Grade 5: The student is able to apply creatively the contents of the course.
Grade 3: The student is well-abled to utilize the course contents.
Grade 1: The student knows those subjects of the course, which are necessary for the forthcoming studies and working life.
Assessment Methods
Exam and activity demonstrated in calculations and assignments.
