Learning Outcomes

The student knows the principles used in speed controlled drives and knows how to apply the knowledge in the parametrisation of a controlled drive. In the control of a three-phase cage motor the student learns the characteristics of scalar, vector and direct torque control. The student knows the properties of a permanent magnet synchronous motor and theit applications in electrical drives.

Prerequisites / Recommended Optional Courses

Professional basic studies in Controlled electrical drives and automation.

Contents

Speed and current control of a DC motor, transfer function and tuning of the control. Scalar, vector and direct torque control of a cage motor. Principles of an inverter. The applications are chosen so that the entity can be complimented in the laboratory part, where practical electrical drives are studied and parameterised. Laboratory exercises based on the state-of-the art technology will support hte studies.

Recommended or Required Reading and Other Learning Resources/Tools

Handout "Säädetyt sähkönkäytöt" by Kari Jokinen.

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Lectures, exercises and laboratory exercises.

Assessment Methods

The assessment is based on the exam and the approved completion of exercises and laboratory exercises.
