Contents

The student is introduced to the common principles of data transmission and the most important components of a data transfer network. The areas covered by the study unit are: general characteristics and framework of data transmission protocols, data transmission media and their installation, TCO/IP communication and active devices in the network

Contact teaching in a PC classroom and guided work in groups in the laboratory

Assessment Criteria

1: The student is able, with guidance, to utilise the knowledge/methods/calculations learnt during the study unit.
3: The student is able to utilise the knowledge/methods/calculations learnt during the study unit independently.
5: The student is able to utilise the knowledge/methods/calculations learnt during the study unit independently and combine the knowledge with previously learnt in various contexts.

Assessment Methods

Exam, assignments, laboratory work and laboratory reports are assessed.
