Learning Outcomes
The student learns to rate a motor, based on the stresses caused by transient states and is introduced to the warm-up model of a motor and various protection and control devices. The student gets familiar with various ways of start, deceleration and speed control and the selection of a motor and the control of a motor with a frequency converter.
Contents
Rating of the motor for short-term use and for start and deceleration. Warm- up model of a cage motor and protection using numeric protection relays. Principles and properties of intelligent motor feeder. Torque and current of a cage motor in start and deceleration and corresponding connections and selection of starter devices. Implementation and properties of speed control of a cage motor. Selection of a frequency converter and motor for speed control drives. Properties and control of a DC motor drive.
