Learning Outcomes
The student understands the significance of degree of freedom in displacements when designing various structures and is able to analyse structures using finite element methods. The student is able to use software based on FEM calculation.

Contents
General displacement method of rod structures: matrix methods, for truss frame and grid structures. Use of finite element methods in plate and slab structures. Computer applications.

Lectures 30h, exercises 20h and a project on FEM analysis 30h
Assessment Criteria
Grade 1: The student will accumulate one third of the maximum score in exams and the student will complete the assignments with grade 1.
Grade 3: The student will accumulate two thirds of maximum score in the exams and will complete the assignment with grade 3.
Grade 5: The student will accumulate the maximum score in the exam and completes the assignments with grade 5.
