Learning Outcomes
The student will understand the difference between construction and renovation of the structures. He or she understands the needs for changing and strengthening the structures and designing solutions in renovation. He or she can choose the most suitable and economic renovation method for each situation. The student can make tests in surveying the buildings.
Contents
Renovating and strengthening the foundations; renovating and strengthening the skeleton of a building; renovating the roofs and checking that they are working; Renovating the facades and balconies; basics of strengthening the structures; the materials in renovating; specifications for renovating. Moisture damaging, heat leaking, carbonation of concrete, the condition of various building materials and the use of different apparatus in building surveying.
