Learning Outcomes

The student will understand the connection between loads and deformations of the structures and energy concepts associated with the function of the structures and their significance in analysing the structures. The student understands the principles of the function of hyperstatic structures and can resolve internal forces of the normally used hyperstatic structures both with force- and displacement method

Contents

Energy concepts and energy theorems and adaptation of the theorems to the practise. The principle of virtual work. To solve the deflections by the principle of virtual work and by the method of Mohr's analogy. Force method and the applications in beam-, frame-, arch- and truss structures. Displacement method and the applications of one degree of freedom, rotation method of the beam– and frame structures. Iterative methods.
