Learning Outcomes

The student deepens his/her knowledge on structural mechanics in the areas of dynamics, theory of plasticity, visco-elasticity theory and numerical structural analysis. The student knows the the most important applications of these theories in structural design is able to use calculaton methods and design instructions based on them. The student knows the principles and range of use of structural analysis software and risks involved.

Contents

Fundamentals of structural dynamics and appearance in strutural engineering; fatigue strength of materials; fundamentals and applications of theory of plasticity and visco-elasticity. Fundamentals of finite element method and application software, use of software.

Material will be announced at the beginning of the study unit.

Multiform implementation, exam and calculation exercises.

Assessment Criteria

Grade 1: The student knows the contents of the study unit that are relevant in working life.
Grade 3: The student is able to utilise the information and skills learnt during the study unit.
Grade 5: The student is able to utilise and apply the information and skills learnt during the study unit.
