Learning Outcomes

The student will understand the principle stages in a structural design prosess and its role in engineering design. He/She will learn to identify the basic load types and how they appear in machines and structures. The student will be able to design simple structures for the basic load types and their combinations. He/She can calculate stresses and deformations and knows their interaction. The student will learn the different stability problems and is able to design columns to buckling.

Student's Workload

Total work load of the course: 81 h
- of which scheduled studies: 40 h
- of which autonomous studies: 41 h

Prerequisites / Recommended Optional Courses

Statics. Basics of Mathematical Software (MathCAD)

Contents
