Learning Outcomes

The student knows the operating principles and energy effeciency of various combustion engines and possibilities of using alternative fuels, taking environmental aspects into account. In addition, the student knows the characteristics of various combustion engines manufactured by Wärtsilä.

Contents

The focus is on various types technologies iused n combustion engines used today and in future, e.g. alternative fuels. In diesel engine part the emphasis is on various combustion engines manufactured by Wärtsilä.

Lectures, asignment, laboratory exercises.

Assessment Criteria

5: The student is able to utilise the methods learnt during the study unit independently and is able apply the learnt knowledge in new contexts.

1: The student is able, with guidance, to utilise the methods learnt during the study unit.

Assessment Methods

Exam, and assessment of the assignment. The completion of laboratory exercises is mandatory.
