Learning Outcomes

The student will understand the importance of design for an economical production process. He will be familiar with different stages of designing and production of a technical device, from an idea to the final product. The student will be able to participate and take the leading role in project team work. He will appreciate the importance of schedule and resource management in the production process and the significance of documentation.

Student's Workload

Total work load of the student 162 h, of which
- scheduled studies 84 h
- autonomous studies 78 h

Prerequisites / Recommended Optional Courses

IKA0303 Computer Aided Manufacturing
IKA0304 Computer Aided Manufacturing Laboratory Exercises
IKA0206 3D Modelling
IKA0305 3D CAM Programming
IKS2102 3D Product Design

Contents

Teams of students innovate and design a plastic product for which a mold is made. It is also possible to design a product consisting of a number of parts produced with NC machine tools in the laboratory.

Recommended or Required Reading and Other Learning Resources/Tools

Handouts provided by the lecturer

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Creating part programs. Producing parts with the NC machine tools.

Assessment Criteria

5: The student is able to utilise the methods learnt during the study unit independently and is able apply the learnt knowledge in new contexts.
3: The student is able to utilise the methods learnt during the study unit independently.
1: The student is able, with guidance, to utilise the methods learnt during the study unit.

Assessment Methods

The project assignment will be assessed.
