Learning Outcomes

The student will understand the principle of creating a product model and is able to make models which are easy to modify. He/she knows how to use Top-down design methods to produce part and assembly models. The student will appreciate the importance of using PLM systems in maintaining product information and knows the principles and concepts of PLM systems.

Contents

Specifying and producing product models. Using Layouts and linking them with the model. Modeling assemblies and linking parts to them. Creating features and part models in the concept of assembly model. Using skeleton models with assemblies. Making family parts and product family tables. Replacing components in the assembly structure. Producing drawings and maintaining them. Rapid prototyping methods. Managing Items, Documents and Product structures. Change management. Configuring products. Using a PLM-system in a design project. Connecting to other data systems.

Lectures, exercises, assignments, examination.

Assessment Methods

Numerical assessment, examination and assignments. Examination includes practical tasks on workstations.
