Learning Outcomes

The student will understand the role of statics in engineering design and will be able to calculate equilibrium equations of particles and rigid bodies. The student will be able to determine moments and forces in different bodies as well as analyzing the forces in articulated mechanisms, trusses and frame constructions.

Student's Workload

Total work load of the course: 81 h
- of which scheduled studies: 36 h
- of which autonomous studies: 45 h

Prerequisites / Recommended Optional Courses

No prerequisites

Contents

Statics of particles and rigid bodies, equilibrium equiatons. Different situations of loads and their effects on structures. Axial force, moment, shear, torsion, trusses and frames.
