Learning Outcomes

The student will get familiar with the functions of Vaasa University of Applied Sciences, the learning environment and learning community as well as the professional image of his/her own branch. The student will learn the structure of the degree programme and its requirements and draws up his/her own study plan. The student will learn to use various information services. The student will commit to the studies, take responsibility for his/her work, and learn to evaluate his/her work and achievements, and plan the studies with future working life in mind.

Student's Workload

54 h, of which 28 hours of lectures and 26 hours of independent work.

Contents

Sciences and the support services (Winha, IT-systems, study guidance and students’ financial aid; health care and sports, international affairs services, virtual studies, library and information services, and Student’s union. One’s own degree programme (incl. specialised professional studies) and study methods, job descriptions in the field. Starting interview and appraisal discussion.

Assessment Criteria

The student is required to particpate to all sessions. At the end of the course, the student must write a report where he/she summaries the functionality of the learning resources at Vaasa University of Applied Sciences as well as a description of his study plan. Fail/pass grading.
