Learning Outcomes

The goal of this course is to introduce student to fundamental networking concepts and technologies. Student will be familiar with local area network (LAN) services, will master the structured cabling systems and architecture of LANs and will be able to design a LAN. Student will also master the basics of network models like OSI model and TCP/IP network services and protocols. The emphasis is on Local Area Networks.

Student's Workload

The total amount of student's work is 135 h, containing 70 h of scheduled contact studies.

IITP0102 Computer as a Study Tool, IITP0103 PC Assembly and Upgrading.

Contents

Network Models and Internet. Transmission Media. Data Link Layer , Local Area Networks and Ethernet. Network Layer (IP).

1. the student understands 40 % of course content.
3. the student understands 60 % of course content.
5. the student understands 90 % of course content and is able to apply the knowledge in real computer network configuration and diagnostics.
