The student is able to use various information retrieval methods. The student familiarizes themselves with community structures and their functions, as well as the principles of environmental protection

Contents
Environmental Impact Assessment Act; objectives, application, and the course of the EIA procedure. Planning in the Land Use Act. The planning system, required studies, and the permit system. Sustainable community structure and the guidance of its functions. Environmental policy instruments. Finland's environmental administration and international connections of environmental law. Environmental Protection Act and the application for an environmental permit under it. Key contents of laws concerning land, water, waste, health, and nature protection.

Selected parts of environmental legislation, lectures, materials provided by the teacher, information sources to be announced separately at the beginning of the course.
Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods
Learning consists of lessons and course literature. Learning is supported by independently prepared assignments and studies, as well as group work tasks. Teaching methods may also include learning diaries, exams, and reports.
Assessment Methods
The course is grading scale of Excellent (5), Good (4-3), Pass (2-1), Fail (0). The course may also use a pass/fail grading scale.
