Contents

Operating principle of a Smart Grid. Examples of functions and services offered by a smart Grid to a client. Most important components and principles in power distribution. Methods and electro-technical boundary conditions related to the network connection and use of distributed power production. Control, management and supervision systems for Smart Grid and their data transfer methods. Principles for determining the price of electricity and practices in electricity trade and related legislation.

Recommended or Required Reading and Other Learning Resources/Tools

Material compiled by the teacher.

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Theoretical contents in lectures. Knowledge is deepened in laboratory exercises where properties of certain devices are measured and studied in a Smart Grid /Micro Grid environment at the laboratory. In addition, the function of devices and apparatuses is introduced in their real operating environment during a field trip to a facility where Smart Grid is utilized.
