Learning Outcomes
The student understands functioning of the atmosphere. The student knows the development challenges related to global warming and is able to participate in current professional discussion and is able to argument future development needs.
The student is familiar with the most common air pollutants, their environmental and health impacts and sources, as well as conventional abatement technologies. The student is able to calculate the composition of flue gases and to assess air quality using a simple dispersion model.
Student's Workload
Total work load 108 h, of which scheduled studies 56h and autonomous studies 75 h.
The assessment of student’s own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.

Contents
International aims for the control of air pollution and global warming. Ozone depletion and climate change. Air quality control. Effects of energy production and transport on air quality. Emission control control and monitoring. Removal of particulates, sulfur and NOx emissions from flue gases. Control of VOC emissions. Dispersion modelling.
