By the end of the course, students will be able to:
• Understand wind energy principles and turbine technologies.

• Apply theoretical knowledge to onshore and offshore wind projects.
• Use wind modelling and forecasting tools.
• Analyse wind turbine and wind farm performance in practical scenarios.

Prerequisites / Recommended Optional Courses
Student must have completed the General basic studies as well as the Basic professional study module courses such as Renewable Energy, Electrical Systems, Process Engineering, and Components of Energy Facility.
Contents
This advanced course provides foundational knowledge of wind energy principles, including wind turbine technologies and resource assessment methods. Students will learn to assess wind resources, perform calculations, and analyse the impact on energy production and efficiency. The course covers both onshore and offshore wind projects, and introduces wind modelling and forecasting tools. Practical applications, case studies and company visits support learning.
Tämä syventävä kurssi tarjoaa perustiedot tuulienergian periaatteista, mukaan lukien tuuliturbiinitekniikat ja resurssien arviointimenetelmät. Opiskelijat oppivat arvioimaan tuuliresursseja, tekemään laskelmia ja analysoimaan vaikutuksia energiantuotantoon ja tehokkuuteen. Kurssi kattaa sekä maa- että merituulihankkeet ja esittelee tuulen mallinnus- ja ennustetyökaluja. Käytännön sovellukset, tapaustutkimukset ja yritysvierailut tukevat oppimista.
