Learning Outcomes

The aim of the course is to give the student the basic mathematical knowledge and skills necessary for engineering studies. The course starts from the very beginning. At the end of the course, the student will master the basics of algebra, geometry, trigonometry and linear algebra.

Student's Workload

The total workload of the course is 135 h, of which 45-60 h of classroom teaching marked in the timetable and the rest of it is student's independent work. Assessment of own learning 1 h.

Prerequisites / Recommended Optional Courses

The course does not require previous studies.

Contents

Whole numbers, their addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, fractions and decimals and their calculations, percentage calculations, sets of numbers, powers and roots.

Functions, polynomial and rational functions, exponential and logarithmic functions.

First and second order equation, higher order equation, groups of equations.

Basic geometry and trigonometry, analytical geometry: line, circle and parabola, vectors and their calculations, trigonometric functions and equations, radian, complex numbers.

Determinants and matrices, solving a group of linear equations with determinants and matrices.
