Learning Outcomes

The student can participate to the design of electricity processes and to the selection of auxiliary equipment. The student is able to understand the phases of power plant projects.
The student is familiarized with energy production using a synchronous generator and control and protection equipment required. The student understands the function of the synchronous generator when directly-coupled and in islanded use. The student will obtain basic knowledge of the structure of a power plant internal consumption network.

Student's Workload

Total work load of the student 135 h, of which
- scheduled studies 70 h
- autonomous studies 65 h
The assessment of student’s own learning 1 h is included in contact lessons.

Prerequisites / Recommended Optional Courses

IEYX1001 Energy technology processes
IEYX1003 The components of energy production plant
IKTI2304 Basics of electrical engineering

Contents

Structure of a synchronous generator. Magnetisation of the generator and structure of the magnetisation equipment. Function of a directly-coupled generator. Function of the generator in islanded use. Protection of the generator in various fault situations. Structure of power plant internal consumption network.
