Learning Outcomes
The student will understand the role of statics in engineering design and the principle stages in a structural design process and its role in engineering design. The student understands the product development process, the evolution of technology and the product development as a continouous process. He/she learns to carry out a product development project and will recognize its success factors.

Statics of particles and rigid bodies, equilibrium equations. Mechanics of materials as part of engineering process, basic concepts of mechanics of materials.
